Objective
This program provides a comprehensive, practitioner-led understanding of the entire LNG import terminal design process from vessel unloading to storage, regasification, and send-out systems.
It is designed for engineers and professionals who wish to understand how all systems integrate to form a functional, safe, and optimized LNG terminal.
Participants will learn how real-world LNG terminals are designed, reviewed, and operated through the lens of global consultants who have led multi-billion-dollar LNG-to-Power and FSRU projects.
Curriculum Overview
- Introduction to LNG Import Terminals — value chain, terminal components, and functional overview.
- Marine Facilities Design — jetty, unloading arms, mooring/breasting dolphins, and navigation approach.
- Storage Systems — LNG tank configuration, capacity planning, and safety considerations.
- Regasification System Design — vaporization systems, send-out pressure control, and redundancy.
- Utilities & Supporting Systems — flare, nitrogen, instrument air, power, and control systems.
- Safety, Risk, and Hazard Management — ESD, firefighting systems, and safety zone planning.
- Integration of Systems — how unloading, storage, and regasification interact in continuous operation.
- Operational Considerations — unloading sequences, BOG handling, and reliability management.
- Documentation & Deliverables — engineering drawings, design basis reports, and key studies.
- Case Studies — lessons from existing LNG terminals (onshore and floating).
This is a design and integration course delivered through case studies, engineering logic, and real project examples — not a software simulation or FEED or detailed design course.
Why This Program Is Unique
- Covers the entire lifecycle of LNG import terminal design in one comprehensive course.
- Delivered by practitioners actively leading LNG design and advisory projects.
- Explains how design choices affect operations, cost, and reliability.
- Combines engineering fundamentals with practical consulting insight.
- Helps participants build the complete picture — from jetty to send-out.
Program Delivery & Engagement
- The program is conducted over 10 learning days spread across 4–5 weeks, allowing participants to continue their professional work while developing design expertise in parallel.
- It is offered in remote live mode for all 10 days, if the remote option is selected.
- In the hybrid format, 2 days are delivered through face-to-face sessions in Thailand, while the remaining 8 days are conducted in remote live mode with full practitioner interaction.
What You Will Learn
By the end of this program, you will be able to:
- Understand complete LNG import terminal configuration and layout logic.
- Evaluate marine, storage, and regasification systems holistically.
- Identify critical design interfaces and their operational implications.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, design reports, and specifications confidently.
- Develop an integrated understanding of technical design and practical operations.
