The Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) course is delivered as a structured, self-paced program that takes learners from SAF fundamentals to production pathways, certification, market economics, and future deployment. The course is delivered in 4 stages listed below.
Learners begin by understanding the aviation decarbonization challenge, the role of SAF, lifecycle GHG emissions, sustainability criteria, and the environmental and social considerations associated with SAF.
Learners explore major SAF feedstocks and production pathways, including HEFA, Fischer-Tropsch, Alcohol-to-Jet, and Power-to-Liquid, comparing their conversion processes, technology readiness, feedstock requirements, and sustainability potential.
Learners examine ASTM D7566 approval, blending requirements, supply-chain traceability, SAF production costs, investment mechanisms, policy incentives, mandates, and market dynamics.
Learners integrate their understanding of SAF technologies, certification, economics, policies, and market drivers to evaluate emerging pathways and the challenges involved in scaling SAF for global aviation decarbonization.
By the end of the course, learners will have developed a structured understanding of SAF that demonstrates their ability to evaluate production pathways, assess sustainability and certification requirements, interpret market and economic factors, and apply technical and strategic thinking to aviation decarbonization challenges.
